Unito is a martial arts tricking based performance group established in 2004. We have been doing gigs since 2006 and most notable performances include Fire Theatres ”Dream of the Fools” 2007, 2008; ”Lightning struck Ilman Ukko” 2009 and ”The Temple of Lemminkäinen” 2010; Circus Ruska Festival 2009 and EJC 2010 with fire artist Niko and Kasmir from FLOW.
The members of Unito have represented Finnish tricking all over the world in events and gatherings in Sweden, Norway, Germany, France, China, The United States and Canada.
Team
Unito was born when 2 trickers from Tampere(Team Toku) and 2 trickers from Helsinki(Universal Tricksters) joined forces in Finland’s first official gathering in Helsinki 2004. With the merging of the names, UniTo was born. Unito has been the pioneer of Finnish tricking and they hold the annual Tampere Open Gathering, every year bigger and bigger.
Heikki Järvinen
The other one of the 2 remaining founders. Heikki has been tricking since 2003. Heikki is the responsible one, in charge of group choreography, video editing, the ‘main picture’ and making sure that things keep happening within the team.
Emil Virtanen
Emil has been tricking since 2003, specializes in chinese Wushu and has competed to an extenct. He spends a lot of time in China training Nan Quan and different weapons. Emil is in charge of selling the gigs, and keeping Heikki in mental health.
Vellu Saarela
The cover boy of Unito. Sometimes called as ”the young lion”. Has been tricking since 2005, diligently developed to be one of the most famous contemporary trickers. He won the 2009 Big Trick in Germany and again in 2011 and has done a number of newspaper interviews.
Iikka Pohjola
The first one of remaining founding fathers. Iikka lived near Helsinki until 2009 when love to tricking and the team made Iikka to move to Tampere thus uniting Unito the first time.
Anssi Nurmi
The least-known tricker of Unito and probably also the cleanest. Perfectionist, visionary genious and a seer.
